Cameras

Camera types

Two types of camera are used in the conference environment. Camcorders are one, although their applications are limited due to their basic functions. The type most commonly used for actual filming and live camera relay is the Sony DXC-55. These types of cameras come with interchangeable lenses, which are selected depending on the distance from the camera of the object being filmed. The rear part of these types of camera can be replaced with a camcorder attachment to enable on-board recording, and their internal image processing is far superior to a normal camcorder. This also means that the image relayed live to a screen is much better.

Processing/mixing

When using cameras for live relay on an event a degree of processing or vision mixing is required before the image goes onto screen. This can either be achieved using a simple vision mixer or a full production rack.
